The deadline for grant requests for Summer Programs for the current year and After School Programs for the next academic year (2008-2009) is March 17. You may apply for either the Summer Program or the After School Program, but not for both.

The deadlines for all other grant requests are January 2 and October 1.

No more than one request from an organization will be considered within a twelve-month period except under special circumstances.

Receipt of proposals will be acknowledged if applicants enclose an addressed envelope or label or their email address.

REGULAR PROGRAMS

Please include one original and ten (10) copies of the proposal. These must be collated. Incomplete proposals will be deferred.

The narrative portion of your proposal may not be longer than 6 pages (single sided) and must be in a normal type size (no smaller than 10 points). The entire proposal - except for the Financial Statement and other attachments - should not exceed ten (10) pages.

The Seybert Institution accepts the common application and evaluation formats of Delaware Valley Grantmakes. However, all applications to the Seybert Institution must include the Application Form that you can download here.

To be complete, an application should include the following information:

  • Name and purpose of the applicant organization
  • Purpose of the grant
  • Special nature of the project with details of how the project benefits low-income young people who are residents of Philadelphia
  • Leadership involved in the project, including qualifications
  • Amount of funds requested; amount of funds needed
  • Other funds available or anticipated
  • Leadership of the organization, including Board of Trustees/ Directors

Please submit three (3) copies of the most recent audited annual financial report.

Please submit one copy of the determination letter showing that the organization is tax-exempt under Section 501(c)(3) and that it is not a private foundation under Section 509(a) of the Internal Revenue Code
